Vote at Thursday’s Meeting

If you haven’t had a chance to mail in your ballot for the proposed covenants changes, please be sure to come to the Association meeting this Thursday, December 15 to cast your vote. The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. at St. Augustine Episcopal Church, 600 N. Washington Street, Danville.

There’s still time to give your ballot to a board member. You can find their addresses on the letter we sent out last month. Please do not put your ballot into one of their mailboxes — it might get picked up by the mail carrier. We can also pick up your ballot from you if you send us a comment. Ballots submitted before the meeting are due by 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 15. Please also send us a comment if you need a new copy of the ballot form or if you have any questions.

Be Sure to Vote!

Please take a moment to vote YES or NO on the changes proposed for our covenants. We mailed out the voting information a few weeks ago, but if you didn’t get yours or have misplaced it, we can resend it to you. Votes are due Thursday, December 15. Votes can be given to any board member, or you can vote in person at a meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 15 at St. Augustine Episcopal Church, 600 N. Washington Street, Danville. If you’d like us to resend the information or have questions, please contact us through the neighborhood website. If you have already voted, we thank you!

Annual Leaf Pick-Up Dates

Again this year, the Town of Danville will be coming to our neighborhood to vacuum fall leaves. There will be two dates for leaf pick up: Monday, October 24 and Monday, November 28. Here are the town’s guidelines to follow when putting your leaves out for pick-up:

  • Have leaves out for pick-up by 7:00 am.
  • Rake the leaves to the area between the sidewalk and the curb.
  • Do not rake leaves into the street — leaves must be on the property side of the curb.
  • Do not put leaves out earlier than 48 hours of the scheduled pick-up day.
  • ONLY leaves (no sticks or yard waste) in the pile to be vacuumed — anything other than leaves can clog and damage the equipment.
  • Do not place your leaves in the roadway, obstruct any rights-of-way, or on the sidewalk — they blow around, become slip hazards when wet, and can clog storm drains and cause flooding.
  • Do not block drains or pile around fire hydrants. (International Fire Code Fire Protection Water Supplies: Section 508.5.4, Section 508.5.5)
  • Do not park on piles of leaves.
  • We will pick up bagged leaves in compostable bags only.
  • We will not pick up leaves in plastic bags.
  • Avoid on-street parking on the daily scheduled pick-up side of the street.
  • NOTE that rain or snow may alter the pick-up schedule.

PDF Document with proposed amendments

Please click here to download a PDF document of the proposed amendments to our neighborhood covenants. Page 1 of the PDF includes the proposed amendment to define how amendments may be made. Page 2 has the proposed amendment for restricting rentals. We will discuss both of these items at our homeowners meeting on Thursday, October 27, at 6:30 p.m. at St. Augustine Episcopal Church. Be sure to come to the meeting if you have questions or would like more information about these two proposed amendments.

Meeting to discuss rental restrictions and covenants

We will have a homeowners meeting on Thursday, October 27, at 6:30 p.m. to discuss rental restrictions within our association. The topic was brought up at our annual homeowners meeting in June this past summer. We have been looking over options for rental restrictions with a local attorney and would like to present our findings to homeowners at this meeting. If you are concerned about this issue, please plan to come to the meeting.

We will also discuss new language for our covenants that will give homeowners well-defined steps to propose changes to the covenants.

We will meet in the basement of St. Augustine Episcopal Church, 600 N. Washington Street, Danville. Please check back here for uploaded documents with information about the prospective changes. We will upload them as soon as we receive them from our attorney.

Homeowners will soon receive a postcard in the mail announcing the meeting. Please sign up to receive news and updates about our neighborhood association by submitting your email address in the box on the right side of this page.

Annual Meeting

Our annual property owners association meeting will be Thursday, June 16, at 6:30 p.m. We will meet in Peach Tree Court, so please bring a lawn chair. Postcard notices were sent out on May 16. Please send us comment through our website if you didn’t receive your postcard. We will post a notice on this website if we need to move or reschedule the annual meeting.

neighborhood leaf pick up schedule

Leaf pick up by the Town of Danville will be November 29th for Orchard Estates. Leaves may be placed in the street in front of your house from November 27th to the 29th. If you don’t want to wait to start raking your leaves, you may bag your leaves in compostable bags and put them in the street starting November 27th for pick up on the 29th. Another option for your leaves is to bag them in lawn and leaf bags and leave them for Ray’s Trash. They will take up to 6 lawn and leaf bags each trash pick up day.

November 29th is the only date for leaf pick up in our neighborhood. If you miss leaf pick up on the 29th, you can take your leaves to the DPW drop-off site (1010 E. Broadway St.) on two consecutive Saturdays (dates to be announced).

You can contact Blaine Roub for more information at 317-745-4180, ext. 1004, or go to the town’s website at https://www.danvilleindiana.org/department/division.php?structureid=65.

Illegal Dumping on Vacant Lots

We’ve received complaints from the owner of the two vacant lots on Macintosh Lane.  This is impeding him from properly maintaining the lots, so there is to be no dumping of any kind on the vacant lots.

If you spot someone dumping on those lots, please either let us know, or call the Danville Police.

Maintenance Work on the Dam

We’re having some maintenance work done to our dam, consisting mostly of tree and brush removal.  You may see some activity in the area, but it should be non-impactful to the neighborhood otherwise.  This will be done in segments over the next few weeks as weather permits. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
